HOW A LITTLE BIRD GOT ITS NAME

It started in Mauritius. A boutique, a shelf of vinyl bags in colors that had no business being that bold — and one that refused to be left behind. That bag was Piu Piu.

The name suited the island. It was playful, it was local, it was a nod to the birdsong you wake up to in Mauritius. But islands and accents don't always travel. When the brand crossed an ocean and landed in the US, “Piu Piu” didn't quite roll off the tongue the way it did back home.

So, we did what the island taught us — we looked to the birds. Mauritius is home to the Fody, a small, impossibly bright red bird you can't walk past without noticing. Bold. Unmissable. Exactly the kind of thing we'd been making all along.

Red Bird Bags. Same island. Same color-soaked obsession. Same bags named after the birds that made us. New name that actually fits in the mouth.

MADE BY HAND, ON AN ISLAND

Every Red Bird bag is made in Mauritius, by people, by hand. Not a factory line — a workshop, where someone cuts, stitches, and finishes each bag the slow way because that's the only way it comes out right. So you may see that no two pieces are ever quite identical.

It's why no two feel mass-produced, and why a piece of the island ends up in every one. We don't romanticize it — it's skilled work, done by skilled hands, and we're proud of every pair of them.

WHO WE ACTUALLY ARE

We make vinyl bags in colors most brands are too nervous to touch. That's the whole idea. While everyone else plays it safe in beige and black, we go full Fody — red, green, every shade that makes a gray day think twice.

These aren't precious. They're made to be carried, thrown over a shoulder, lived in. Wipe them down, they're good as new. Take something drab and walk out fab.

And not a single animal goes into making them. Cruelty-free, always — gorgeous color with nothing on its conscience.
