In the fashion industry, vinyl refers to a type of synthetic material made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is known for its glossy, shiny, and sleek appearance, similar to patent leather. Vinyl is often used in the creation of various fashion items, including clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories, due to its high-quality, durable, and eye-catching properties. Its bright colors and waterproof nature make it a popular choice for creating bold and vibrant designs that stand out in the crowd.
No, vinyl is not biodegradable. Vinyl is a type of plastic, specifically polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is known for its durability and resistance to decomposition. Unlike organic materials, such as paper or plant-based fabrics, vinyl does not break down naturally through biological processes.
Vinyl is generally considered vegan-friendly because it is a synthetic material made from chemicals and does not involve the use of animal products or by-products in its production. Unlike materials like leather or suede, which come from animal hides, vinyl is a man-made material and does not involve any animal exploitation.
Most days, wipe it down with a damp cloth and you're done. For stubborn marks, use lukewarm water and a little mild liquid soap, then wipe with clean water.
Properly grubby? Put it in the washing machine on a cold, quick cycle. We've been making these bags for many years, and they can take it.
Air-dry it, outside if you can, out of direct sunlight and away from heat, and let the lining dry completely before you use it again. Skip bleach, harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners. Store it somewhere cool and dry, ideally in a dust bag.
